04 — Review
Bleu de Chanel Parfum is the 2018 Parfum concentration of Chanel’s aromatic-woody signature, composed by Olivier Polge. Compared with the Eau de Parfum it trades incense and pepper for a creamier sandalwood-and-cedar core, opened by lemon zest, mint and a herbal artemisia note.
Bleu de Chanel Parfum at a glance
- Fragrance style: woody aromatic with a creamy sandalwood base.
- Best for: daily wear, the office, evenings and formal occasions.
- Recommended seasons: all year.
- Character: smooth, polished and understated.
What does Bleu de Chanel Parfum smell like?
It opens with lemon zest and bergamot, sharpened by mint and the bitter-herbal edge of artemisia. The effect is clean and cool, less sparkling than the Eau de Toilette.
The heart is aromatic: lavender and geranium with a green tone and a discreet fruity lift from pineapple that keeps it from feeling austere.
The base is the reason to choose this concentration: sandalwood and cedar, smoothed by amberwood, Iso E Super and tonka bean, give a dense, creamy woody finish.
This is our reading of the composition as documented below, not a wear test: how it behaves on your skin is something only sampling will tell you.
Where these notes come from
The pyramid shown comes from Fragrantica, a third-party database, which credits Olivier Polge. Chanel presents the Parfum as the most intense, woody expression of Bleu de Chanel; we keep the house wording and the database pyramid apart.
Choosing the right version
Bleu de Chanel exists as an Eau de Toilette (2010), Eau de Parfum (2014), Parfum (2018) and L’Exclusif. Each is a different interpretation; the scores here belong to the Parfum only, not to the EDP profile on this site.
Performance and projection
The longevity and projection scores on this profile are Parfumo community ratings for this exact concentration, checked on 3 November 2026 — not a SCENTIVOIRE skin test. Parfumo publishes no versatility score, so we show none. Your skin, dose and climate will change the result.
Longevity
Parfumo members rate longevity 7.5/10 (2,787 ratings).
Projection
Parfumo members rate sillage 7.1/10 (2,784 ratings).
Versatility
Parfumo publishes no versatility score, so this profile shows none rather than an estimate. The season suggestions below are guidance, not a score.
Best seasons to wear it
- Spring: the citrus-aromatic opening suits mild weather.
- Summer: wearable with a light hand.
- Autumn: the sandalwood base feels at its best.
- Winter: dependable indoors and in the evening.
These are editorial selection suggestions, not seasonal scores.
Who is it for?
Choose Bleu de Chanel Parfum if you want a refined woody signature that works for the office and the evening and almost all year. Avoid blind-buying it if you want something unusual or loud: its strength is smoothness and broad appeal.

Bleu de Chanel Parfum is the most mature and versatile take on the Bleu signature. Compare it on skin with the EDP before buying, because the creamy sandalwood drydown is what separates them.

Retailer prices, availability and community votes checked on 3 November 2026. Concentration, launch year and product identity are attributed to Chanel. The top–heart–base pyramid and the perfumer credit come from Fragrantica, a third-party database. The description of the scent is our editorial reading of that documented composition. The performance scores are community data, not our own test: longevity and projection are Parfumo community ratings out of 10 (2,787 longevity and 2,784 sillage ratings); Parfumo publishes no versatility score, so none is shown.
